FASHION: TURN ON AND TURN OFF.

I had a very interesting request for a next post from my dear friend, Dena of Pretty Little Things. This is what Dena said:

"Colin I like to see more post from you on beauty seen by men, what do they find attractive in a woman when it comes to character and looks.

"What are the biggest turn off according to Colin?"

Mighty dangerous ground? Yep, it is, specially coz 90% of my readers are ladies.

I think men are more inclined to look at a girl's "outer" than her "inner" qualities.... first impressions anyway.

What I first look for in a girl is femininity, I like a girl that is soft, feminine and girly. She doesn't have to be drop dead gorgeous, or have a perfect figure. There are loads of less beautiful and less sexy girls out there that will catch the average male eye just as fast as the most beautiful girl in the world. (sometimes even faster, coz the most beautiful girl might think the sun is shining out of her backside, a major turn off!) Now to me there are certain things that are synonym with femininity, and again, this is my preferences. Long, well kept hair, color varnished nails, make up, a dress or skirt, heels, ear rings. You will notice that these are all things that a man is not suppose to use or have, or wear.

Let's look at Heather Tom, the perfect example of what a girl should look like. Now I specially love her hair.

Something else that catches my eye is confidence. Confidence in a nice way, not the "I know I am gorgeous and everyone else is ugly" kinda confidence, coz that is a major turn off. Not just to men.

Here is another example of what a typical girl should look like - hair perfectly done, nails painted, red lips, well dressed and heels. Now do not get me wrong, I know a girl cannot look like this all the time, but at least when you go somewhere with someone special, make an effort to look special.

Other turn offs, and I speak for myself here. Bad odors, no matter, male or female, man I wanna get sick when someone smells like an open grave. I think that is the most terrible turnoff for me.

When I look at a girl, first things I notice are her nails and hair. Long well kept hair to me is a bonus, and the same with nails. Nails with colored nail varnish on, and half the varnish is chipped off, YUK. Goo under the nails....bleeeh, terrible.

I have posted this pic before, but this is the perfect example of what a girl should NOT look like. If you zoom in on her one hand you will notice chipped nail varnish. If you zoom in on her feet, you will notice......uhm, don't rightly know what to call that, you call it what ever you like..... I just know, if I had to go somewhere with her, I'd politely ask her to walk some ten paces ahead of me, just so people don't think we are together.

Unshaven armpits and unshaven legs.... yuk! Another turn off.

You know, I think loads of people get divorced simply because people let go. The believe or attitude is, I am married now, I do not have to look after myself anymore, be that male or female. You got to keep looking great for your partner, no matter what. Your partner must be proud to go places with you. Make small changes, not so your partner would ask, "who the hell are you?" but something that will make your partner take a second look at you, or make your partner fall in love with you over and over again.

I hope that answers Dena's question, and I know I am going to get loads of flak from some readers, I am not going to mention any names, haha... but this is my opinion, take it or leave it. I am in the fortunate position that I married a girl that has all of these good qualities, so it is possible to be like this. And believe me, she will not go anywhere if she doesn't feel dressed properly, or if her hair isn't perfect. I reckon pride has a lot to do with it also.

To proof what I just said, this is what Yolande looks like on an average day. (not the best pic I know, but I took it and I am no account with a camera.)

Well, it is time for you girls to pick up the stones, let me know when to start ducking. Do I expect too much, and men in general, do we expect too much from the fairer sex? The floor is yours, you can start throwing.

Have a lovely day.

FASHION - FUNNY DRESSED CELEBS.

I know being a man I look at an outfit somewhat different than a woman will. I guess that is just natural. Some outfits however.... I don't know.....
My point is, some celebs dress really funny, even if, or is it specially when they know they are going to be in the public eye.

Let me show you what I mean.
I am a huge fan of Sophia Bush, but this dress looks a bit uhm.... shall I say, wrong place, wrong time? Had it not been for the belt, extras and heels, I would have thought she is ready for bed.

Dita Von Teese is not one of my favorites, but normally she looks fabulous, not a
thing out of place. This pic however, something just isn't right, can't put my finger on it, maybe it is the dress, it does look kinda......otherwise.... Come on girls, what is wrong with this picture....?? Maybe it is the sandals, they do not seem to go with the dress, in my humble opinion, I would have thought that dress would look better with pumps.... And that face, man it's mean enough to sour fresh cream!

Lady Gaga? I am not a fan at all, now I have seen her dressed worse than this, but this was the only pic I could find this morning. But I think you will get the picture. The bow in the hair, the sunnies, (I bet this picture was taken at night, why would she need sunglasses?) the gloves.... man, you will have to pay me to walk down the street with her looking like that. (not that anyone will ask me) And I have seen pictures of her before she became famous, she used to look great. She is actually a beautiful girl with well shaped legs.

Make no mistake, I like Danielle Lloyd, she has nice legs, and a pretty face. And I enjoy a good leg, but not over my dead body will my daughter go anywhere dressed like this. That thing barely covers her backside, and if she bends over her boobies are gonna pop out! Actually if she bends over, whoever is standing behind her will see her name and surname all at once.

I have nothing against this girl, in fact I think she is really beautiful and mostly looks very sexy and feminine. But this dress! Not what I would call cool. First of all it looks like something used to grow on it, but died a long time ago. Then it is so low cut, you can almost see her bum. In fact you do not have to be over imaginative to kinda see it. Can you guess who she is? If I remember, I will tell you at the end of the post.

Pamela, what were you thinking?? I am not gonna to say anymore, this picture speaks for itself. That face looks old enough to have worn out two bodies.

I have posted this pic before, but it never fails to amaze me, nothing wrong with the dress, nor the make up, but the wings and the feet.... man oh man.... you tell me what you think.

If you haven't figured it out yet, the girl with the dead growth on her dress, she is Diane Kruger.

A MATTER OF CHOICE, VARNISHED TOE NAILS OR FRENCH PEDICURE, OR NOTHING AT ALL!

When a lady wears open shoes it is in my opinion important to make sure your feet look at least presentable, but being a lady it should look pretty, it should, to be honest, look damn sexy, just so it matches the rest of the outfit you are wearing, or to match your make up. In the southern hemisphere it is winter now, so the ladies down her hide their feet in boots and pumps or sneakers, but for those of my readers in the northern hemisphere, this might be something to contemplate on. Make sure your feet look nice when you wear sandals! There are few things so terrible as a great looking girl with terrible looking feet. Now I know this is from a man's point of view, but listening to my wife I know that women feel the same about this matter.

I am sure you will agree with me, Brittany Snow looks quite beautiful in this picture, wings and the works! Now scroll down to her feet and zoom in! What a shocker, those toe nails have only half the varnish it should have, they look disgusting! Another thing, those sandals do not fit her properly.

Take a look at a good example of a pair of well groomed feet, red varnished toe nails in sandals to die for. Doesn't this picture of Ali Landry look stunning. It takes no intellectual giant to see that her feet are cared for, toe nails varnished a beautiful red, done to perfection!

Petra Nemcova, now it is a matter of choice, do you care for colored, varnished toe nails or whether you like french pedicure, or nothing at all. Me? I like them varnished, like these of Petra. Love her hair in this pic by the way.

Jennifer Aniston, who normally prefers no nail varnish, as you can see, no doubt, but it is plain to see her feet are well cared for.

One of my favorites, but not in this pic, Danielle Lloyd, with a french pedicure, wearing shoes that do not compliment her feet at all, to put it mildly. Those shoes look horrible on her, and they make her feet look horrible!

So ladies, the choice is yours, french pedicure, nail varnish or no varnish, what ever makes your hair blow backwards, but make sure you care for your feet before you wear open shoes. Or you will not make a good impression!

IF THE SHOE FITS….BUY IT!

A while ago one of my readers left a comment on my blog, she loves high heels but they are sometimes painful to wear, and if I had any advice. Now me being a male, it is quite a tall order. So I did a little research of my own.
Here is an example of a bad fitting pair of shoes, just take a look at the cramped looking feet and toes.

Those feet up there belong to Marisa Tomei, now take a closer look at the three small toes, don't you think they are just battling their asses off to fit into those shoes? Now maybe she just hides it well, but I'll bet my bottom dollar she cannot wait to rip those shoes off her feet.

Take a look at the example above here, do you think Brittany Snow feels comfortable in these shoes? Just zoom in and take a closer look at those poor toes, there is just not enough space in there for all those toes man, they are crowded in there, why do you think she has stuff jammed in the back at the heels? Because those shoes fit well? No my girl, it is because those shoes hurt like hell, even from where I am sitting they do. So, bottom line is, wrong shoes, wrong choice, lots of pain, no gain.

From what I can gather, shoes that are painful to wear either don’t fit well or they are not made well. So where do you go from here? Whenever you buy new shoes, do not buy them first thing in the morning, later in the day your feet become slightly swollen and if a shoe fits well then, it should always be a good fit. Another thing, if a shoe, for whatever reason doesn’t feel well when you first fit it, it will never fit better later on, so do not buy it.
Some experience my wife had, two different pairs of shoes of the same size and same manufacturer may not fit the same, so if you really are just dying to buy a certain pair of shoes and they do not fit 100%, ask the saleslady to bring you another pair of the same size and manufacturer, just in case there is a difference in fit. It is possible!
Also keep in mind, a number seven shoe with one manufacturer may not be exactly the same size as a number seven of another manufacturer, they do differ. So if a size you fit doesn’t fit properly, try a size bigger or smaller, whatever the case may be.

Take a look at another example.

I do not care what you tell me, but these shoes of Charlize are too big for her, unless she has a piece of elastic band at the back of her heel, these shoes are going to flop-flop behind her when she walks, either that or her toes will have to work overtime when she walks in order for her to keep those shoes on her feet.

So, when you shop for shoes, fit lots of pairs to make sure you get the pair that fits you 100% like Kim is doing down here.

My advice, before you buy, fit them properly, late in the day, take your time, walk in them, walk fast, walk slow, even dance in them, hell, they have to fit you well enough to be able to walk in them for a whole day. Then, if they don't fit, don't buy them. If for some reason they hurt you later, return them and swap them for a pair that does fit. The same goes for strappy sandals, a big culprit, if they hurt, they don't fit well, return them, swap 'em for another pair that doesn't hurt.

Take a look at Cindy Crawford's feet, this is what happens to your big toes if you make a habit of wearing ill fitting shoes!! And I am sure you have seen worse, so be careful!

The good news is, if you wear a shoe that really fits well, your feet and legs will look like Pam's here and everyone will think you look sexy!

I do hope this post was at least a little helpful, if anyone of you ladies, or gents for that matter, can add some advice, please feel free to leave a comment. Hope to hear from you soon!
